Create a Getaway Retreat Inside Your Home

After ten years of living in a home with no basement or storage space, Kim and Rob decided it was time to invest in an expansion. They needed a room that provided the utility of storage space and a workout area, but they also wanted somewhere cozy and comfortable to relax. Kim and Rob's home already had unique features including a standout picture window turret and light green vinyl shake siding. So, the addition needed to feel cohesive and stay true to the home's design aesthetic.

Kim and Rob started with an inspirational photo clipped from a design magazine, but from there they weren't sure how to make their dream a reality. Then they met Brothers designer, Jaclyne Roberts, at a Maryland home show and scheduled a consultation. By collaborating with the experienced consultants and custom builders at Brothers, Kim and Rob were able to fully realize the expanded space above the garage.

Brothers master craftspeople created a design Kim and Rob loved that incorporated all of their needs as a family. The addition features a comfortable living and entertaining space, a barn-door opening to a workout room, and a storage area with custom-sized shelving units. Everything, from the size of the workout room that fits specialized machinery to the custom built-in cabinets that house handmade ship models, was hand crafted to get the most out of the new space.

After the Brothers team completed the addition, Kim and Rob commented that it feels like a fun escape within their own home. They described the room as a "New York City loft" that they get to visit and enjoy every day. Even their neighbors have raved about how amazing it looks from the outside as well!

Whether you want a functional getaway like Kim and Rob, you have an existing space like a basement that needs to be finished, or anything in between, the expert designers at Brothers are excited to take on the project. Together, there's nothing we can't build to help you turn your house into the home of your dreams. Schedule a free consultation to get started!
