The Burroughs family loved a lot about their home, but that love stopped short when it came to their two non-functional back-to-back bathrooms. Both bathrooms had awkward layouts and didn’t accommodate two sinks (a must have for the homeowners!). They also were eager to enlarge their master bathroom and increase their shower size. With the help of their sales consultant, Jamie Crone, they were able to increase the size of their master bath, incorporate two sinks in both bathrooms, and create two unique spaces that they truly love.
This two-bathroom redesign worked to create two, all-new bathroom spaces and win a NARI 2019 Regional Contractor of the Year Award! Both bathrooms needed new layouts, so space was reallocated to enlarge the master and make the hall bath more functional. Some challenges were reworking hidden HVAC and relocating fixtures in the hall bathroom. The Burroughs added their own personal touch by supplying a fun, hexagonal marble for the floor in the hall bathroom. The hall bath also includes a bold, blue, furniture grade vanity, additional cabinet storage, barn-style shower doors, and wainscoting. The master bath includes dueling vanities, a hidden laundry chute, a floating shower bench, and soft romantic tones.

1. Sliding Glass Door
We used a barn-style glass door for ease of access into the shower area. We chose to use a slider instead of a hinged door to keep the bathroom space unobstructed. The clean glass allows natural light to pass through to the vanity area.
2. Low Profile Soaking Tub
Since the homeowners plan to stay in this house long-term, we chose to use a lower profile tub rather than a deeper soaking tub. This will allow them to age in place while still being able to enjoy a bath now and then.
3. Wainscoting
In keeping with the character of the homeowners home, we added wainscot paneling to all exposed walls in the bathroom. This adds to the appeal of a custom bathroom, and gives the space a tailored look.
4. Custom Storage
We recaptured abundant storage space by creating built-in cabinetry. We enhanced the look of the built-ins by adding fun, crisscross towel storage.
5. Pocket Door
To give the floor plan a nice and easy flow, we chose to replace the older hinged door with a pocket door. This allows for the door to not take up any additional space and makes easier access to the built in storage cabinetry.
6. Personal Touches
The homeowners had wanted to bring in their own personal touch, so they supplied a beautiful marble hexagon mosaic for the floor tile.
7. Laundry Chute
The homeowners had a laundry chute in their original bathroom, and they were worried about losing this feature in the remodel. With the new vanity configuration, we were able to tuck the chute out of sight, but easily within reach!
8. Attractive Storage
We designed furniture grade vanities to give a romantic feel, as well as additional towel storage below. The “his” and “her” vanities are similar styles with different configurations to suit the needs of each homeowner.
9. Extended Backsplash
We opted to install a taller, 6” quartz backsplash on both vanities. This added height will better protect the wall space, as well as feature the height of the tall faucet fixtures.
10. Shower Details
The homeowner needed a larger shower, so we were able to relocate and expand the shower to a much larger footprint. The larger shower gave us room to build a floating bench for shaving. In order to fill their storage needs, we installed a long shampoo niche on the side wall.
