Track how frequently you really use items in your home from clothes to kitchen gadgets and more. Simply add a sticker and write today’s date. When you use the item remove the sticker. After a few months, check to see what items still have a sticker and donate them.
Does your coffee table look great but lack storage? Consider switching it for a storage ottoman or trendy trunk. Extra blankets, pillows, or kids toys all fit nicely within. Now your living space has excellent form and function.
Are your counters full of clutter? Consider going paperless with your bills and statements. Have the habit of stacking papers on the counter as they come in the door? Utilize a magazine sorter for things to read later and things to keep. Everything else can be trashed or recycled.
The best way to maximize your closet is to declutter. Still strapped for space? Try using specialized hangers for your skirts and/or pants. Double your closet space by purchasing an extra bar to hang below your existing one and don’t forget to utilize your closet door. There are lots of storage systems you can hang directly on your door for additional storage of shoes or scarves.
Getting organized can be overwhelming. Start with a little bit every day, but keep it up. Organizing is not an end destination, it’s a process of finding a system that works for you and your family and sticking to it every day.
